Korea Day 2023: Travel to Korea for a day

Travel to Korea for a day - without a passport, packing your suitcase or jet lag? No problem! The Alliance for Research on East Asia (AREA) Ruhr and the LSI (Landesspracheninstitut der Ruhr-Universität Bochum) present the Korean Language and Culture Day at Bochum. This year's KOREA Day continues the AREA Ruhr series “On the traces of East Asia in NRW”, which started in 2021.

Korea has a long history, going back over 4000 years. No need to mention, that there have been many cultural and linguistic developments in between. Therefore, there is a lot to discover when we bring a part of Korea's exciting past and present to the LSI on 28th of October.

For an entire day, you can experience the varied facets of Korean language and culture firsthand. Mini-language courses will give you a first taste of Korean. Interactive workshops on various topics such as sports (K-Pop Dance, Taekwondo), art (calligraphy, paper art) and music (Gayageum, Janggu drums) invite you to join in. And of course, Korean cuisine is not to be missed! Furthermore, we want to give you an overview of the Korea-related study programs at the two AREA Ruhr locations (RUB & UDE) and you will have the opportunity to talk to many Korean Studies students and Alumnis.

You can find out what else there is to discover in the event program on our website. We look forward welcoming you at the LSI on Korean Language and Culture Day.
